Outlaws Yacht Club – Review

Outlaws Yacht Club is one of Leeds’ newest and brightest venues that displays how the idea driven owners are offering people something different from the usual formula of bars and establishments in its area. Situated on New York Street, a stones throw from the Corn Exchange Outlaws has something for everyone. The exhibition space houses the work of a different artist each month, live DJ sets on Friday & Saturday nights, ‘mini graffiti wall’ for the budding artists of tomorrow (am pretty sure this is just for those under 3 feet tall but who knows if you ask nicely) and kids are also welcome to a sugary treat from the ‘magic till’!

Sticks and Stones is a night of spoken word and recently Outlaws enjoyed the lyrical genius of Youtube sensation and former teacher Mark Grist who you may remember destroying former student ‘Blizzard’ on the rap battle scene (so the story goes).

Then there is the food! Exceptional and locally sourced you can enjoy anything from Sushi, wholesome soups and sandwiches to an incredibly moreish selection of cakes to accompany a much-needed coffee. Perhaps something stronger? A handpicked selection of premium wines & spirits from around the world, premium quality draught and a great selection of bottled ales combined with knowledgeable staff makes all the difference from the standard bar experience.

Warm, welcoming and decked out in a vintage style Outlaws Yacht Club is a great all round venue. Attached to Rebel Pinup hairdressers it’s a great place to relax, play one of the numerous vintage board games, enjoy a blast from the past with some retro magazines, have a great night out or bring a date.

JAM rating: Double thumbs up!
